The Trustees, in consultation with the Board of the Emmaus Centre at Lissenhall, Swords, Co. Dublin, have decided to close the Centre. The Centre has provided facilities for programmes of human, spiritual and religious development for over forty years to school children, religious and laity.
This difficult decision, which has been taken with great regret, reflects the collapse of current and forward bookings as a result of Covid-19. Ongoing uncertainty regarding the pandemic restrictions together with mounting maintenance costs have made the decision inevitable and necessary.
Province Leader of the Christian Brothers, Brother Edmund Garvey said: “I wish to pay tribute at this difficult time to our incredible team of hard-working staff for their commitment and dedication over many years. We are deeply grateful to our friends and clients in Ireland and overseas who supported and befriended the Centre and who provided spiritual and personal development support to countless individuals and organisations.”
