Neglected and disowned parts of ourselves often come into consciousness in the form of a hurting child (of any age). Indicators of such parts may be observed in our strong reactions to sad or touching scenes in stories and films. This workshop will offer participants scope for identifying, acknowledging and accepting these often hidden, hurting aspects of ourselves. In addition, many people talk about “conquering”, “overcoming” or “silencing” that inner voice that appears to try to undermine and sabotage our best efforts. In this workshop we will be taking a more compassionate approach to that fearful part of ourselves. Employing the mindfulness-based approach of Focusing we will turn towards the Inner Critic to understand it and turn its apparent criticisms and worries into stepping stones for moving forward in our lives.
During the course of the workshop, Tom Larkin will employ a combination of guided exercises, structured experiences and group discussions.
