In this workshop Joseph will outline how western psychology sees the development of the ego to full authenticity as being the true self and how this differs from the contemplative traditions of both West and East. The contemplative traditions see the true self as being an inner loving witness that transcends the ego. Joseph will show how Christian mediation both integrates the ego internally while simultaneously transcending the ego in accessing the inner loving witness as the true self. Joseph will outline how this dual process is enacted in Christian meditation. There will be times of practice throughout the day.
