St. Therese is arguably one of the most popular saints in the Church today with millions of devoted followers of her “little way.” How is it that a young Carmelite nun, born nearly 150 years ago, still has so much to say to us today? This day of reflection will explore the life of Therese and her spirituality that developed in the years preceding her death at the young age of 24. This Doctor of the Church has much to teach us about the struggles that we all grapple with, such as discouragement, worry, love of neighbour, suffering, and trusting in God. Her entire spirituality hinges on her insatiable love of Jesus and her profoundly simple understanding of God as “Father.” Reflecting upon her writings, we hope to journey with Therese and learn to incorporate her “little way” into our daily lives and see that regardless of our vocations in life, our primary vocation is love.
