What do women who lived in pre-Christian times have to do with us?

Remote they may seem, yet all were remarkable, and their lives have amazing relevance even today. Some were queens who held positions of great authority, others were ordinary women whose actions nonetheless had far-reaching consequences.

Through their faith and their strong characters, these women often had to act alone, at times on behalf of their family, their tribe or nation. They made significant choices, helped lead people out of bondage and dared to believe in God’s promises. Often travelling vast distances, they prayed, gave birth to kings, took initiatives and rescued entire nations. Others were ruthless and exploited their positions.
